Zusammenfassung

Seit vielen Jahrzehnten stellt die transurethrale Elektroresektion der Prostata (TURP) den Goldstandard bei der operativen Behandlung der symptomatischen benignen Prostatahyperplasie (BPH) dar [1]. Dennoch ist die TURP ein invasives, technisch anspruchsvolles und potenziell gefährliches Operationsverfahren. Die perioperative Morbidität dieses Eingriffs steigt mit dem Adenomgewicht, dem Lebensalter und kardiopulmonalen Begleiterkrankungen erheblich an. Insbesondere das Blutungs- und Einschwemmungsrisiko stehen hierbei im Vordergrund [2].
