Zusammenfassung

Geht man davon aus, dass 10 % aller Neugeborenen in eine Kinderklinik verlegt werden müssen und dass etwa ¼ davon intensivpflegebedürftig ist, so wären für die Bundesrepublik 70 Neugeborenenintensivstationen erforderlich, von denen jede pro Jahr 250 Kinder zu versorgen hätte. Diese Stationen müssen im Verbund mit einer großen Entbindungsabteilung stehen (perinatales Zentrum), in welche aus einem Einzugsgebiet von ca. 10000 Entbindungen pro Jahr alle Geburten mit erhöhtem Risiko, insbesondere alle Frühgeburten, geleitet werden. Die vom Gemeinsamen Bundesausschuss definierten Versorgungsstufen ermöglichen eine nach dem Risikoprofil des Früh- oder Neugeborenen differenzierte Zuweisung [36]. Leider ist in Deutschland abweichend vom internationalen Sprachgebrauch [99] die höchste Versorgungsstufe als Level 1 angegeben.
