Der erste Teil von Kap. 6 fokussiert auf pathophysiologische Mechanismen, welche üblicherweise bei Neu- und Frühgeborenen angetroffen werden. Der zweite Teil befasst sich mit Einleitung und Aufrechterhaltung der Allgemeinanästhesie. Einige typische Anomalien und Krankheiten sowie das darauf bezogene Anästhesiemanagement werden am Ende dieses Kapitels besprochen. Die normale Neugeborenenphysiologie wirde in ▸ Kap. 3 beschrieben.
