Maggie Knott stellte Chopping (wörtlich übersetzt: „Holz hacken“) in ihrem ersten Film (Anfang der 1950er Jahre) als bilaterales asymmetrisches Armpattern mit Flexion des Kopfes für Aktivität im Rumpf vor. Widerstand wurde am Kopf und an der Hand des Extension-Abduktion-Innenrotations Armes gegeben, der andere Arm hielt sich an diesem fest.
