Zusammenfassung
Ganz allgemein ist ein Score eine vereinfachende Zählmethode. Das altenglische Wort „scoru“ stammt aus dem Norwegischen und bedeutete „zwanzig“ [10]. Später bezeichnete man damit Kerben in Holzstäben, die man beim Zählen von Schafen für je 20 Schafe machte. Die vielfältigen englischen Bedeutungen [6] reichen heute von „Partitur“ und „Stimme“ über „Kerbe“ und „Stiege“ bis zu den hier eher diskutierten Interpretationen „Auswertung“ und „Stand eines Wettkampfs“. Im deutschen Sprachraum hat das Wort „Score“ immer noch ein breites Bedeutungsspektrum: Es reicht von der spielerischen Interpretation der „High-Scores“ bei Computerspielen bis zu Letalitätswahrscheinlichkeiten nach kardiochirurgischen Operationen, beispielsweise im Fall des EuroSCORE.
