Zusammenfassung

Die Behandlung von Neugeborenen und Kleinkindern, bei denen keine 2 gut entwickelten Ventrikel vorhanden sind, gehört im Bereich der chirurgischen und medikamentösen Therapie kongenitaler Herzfehler zu den anspruchsvollsten Aufgaben. Darüber hinaus ist die Klassifizierung dieser Herzfehler schwierig, da es eine Vielzahl angeborener Herzfehler gibt, die mit einem hypoplastischen Ventrikel vergesellschaftet sein können. Die häufig verwendeten Begriffe “singulärer Ventrikel” und “univentrikuläres Herz” sind unpräzise und meist falsch, da diese Herzen in sehr seltenen Fällen tatsächlich nur aus einem Ventrikel bestehen. In den meisten Fällen finden sich ein gut entwickelter sowie ein hypoplastischer, unvollständiger oder rudimentärer Ventrikel. Daher hat sich in jüngster Zeit der Begriff “funktionell singulärer Ventrikel” für alle angeborenen Herzfehler, bei denen keine Trennung der Ventrikel durchgeführt werden kann, durchgesetzt.
