Zusammenfassung

Der Vorhofseptumdefekt (Atriumseptum defekt, ASD) vom Sekundumtyp ist einer der häufigsten angeborenen Herzfehler. Der ASD kommt bei etwa einem von 1500 Lebendgeborenen oder bei ungefähr 7 % aller Kinder mit angeborenen Herzfehlern vor. Das Verhältnis von männlichen zu weiblichen Patienten beträgt 3: 2. Etwa 15–30 % der gesunden Erwachsenen haben ein offenes Foramen ovale mit einer funktionierenden Klappe.
