Zusammenfassung
Intravenöse Anästhetika werden aufgrund ihres im Vergleich zu den volatilen Anästhetika schnelleren Wirkungseintritts häufig zur Induktion einer Allgemeinanästhesie verwendet. Das Einschlafen wird von den Patienten als angenehmer empfunden. Mit Ausnahme von Ketamin besitzen die derzeit in Deutschland verfügbaren i.v.-Anästhetika keine analgetische Wirkung. Sie müssen daher mit einem öpioid kombiniert werden.
Allerdings entziehen sie sich nach Injektion einer weiteren Beeinflussung ihrer Pharmakokinetik. Das »jüngste« i.v.-Anästhetikum, Propofol, zeichnet sich trotzdem durch eine gute Steuerbarkeit aus. Es ist wie Midazolam und Ketamin zur kontinuierlichen Aufrechterhaltung einer Allgemeinanästhesie geeignet.
