Zusammenfassung
Von Beginn an werden die embryonale und fetale Entwicklung des Menschen von der Entwicklung des Immunsystems begleitet. Wir kennen heute eine große Anzahl angeborener Störungen des Immunsystems, die zu einem erheblichen Teil bereits molekular charakterisiert sind. Tab. 4.1 fasst einige dieser Erkrankungen mit überwiegender Störung der T-Zell-Entwicklung zusammen. Gemeinsam ist diesen Erkrankungen i. d. R., dass sie die intrauterine Entwicklung nicht stören und es nach normaler Schwangerschaftsdauer zur Geburt eines scheinbar gesunden Kindes kommt. Dies zeigt beispielhaft, dass für die intrauterine Entwicklung kein intaktes Immunsystem benötigt wird. Durch die fast komplette Isolierung des sich entwickelnden Lebens besteht die Hauptfunktion des Immunsystems zunächst im Erlernen des Selbsterkennens.
