Zusammenfassung

Eine der ältesten Beschreibungen der Hüftgelenksverrenkung wird bereits in der Bibel erwähnt (Genesis 32, 25–32). Sir Astley Cooper berichtete 1791 als erster ausführlich über einen Hüftgelenksverrenkungsbruch, den er während einer Autopsie vorfand. Malgaigne (1855) unterschied zwischen isolierter Hüftluxation und Hüftgelenksverrenkungsbruch, indem er bei Letzterem vermehrte Geräusche und eine leichte Reluxierbarkeit angab (in Rosenthal und Coker 1979).
