Zusammenfassung
Geschlechtsdifferenzen im Gehirn gehören zu den faszinierendsten und immer wieder aufgegriffenen Forschungsthemen in unserer Gesellschaft. So war das äußerst provozierende Buch des Neurologen Dr. Paul Julius Möbius aus dem Jahre 1904 „Über den physiologischen Schwachsinn des Weibes“ innerhalb kürzester Zeit achtmal vergriffen. Heutzutage wird der Büchermarkt geradezu überschwemmt mit Büchern wie „Warum Männer nicht zuhören und Frauen schlecht einparken“ (Pease and Pease, 2000), die die gängigen Klischees scheinbar wissenschaftlich zu untermauern versuchen. Andererseits gibt es aber auch Literatur, die populärwissenschaftlich und mit neusten Erkenntnissen aus Psychologie und Hirnforschung darauf hinweist, dass diese einseitige Beurteilung der Geschlechter einfach nicht haltbar ist (z.B. Hines, 2004; Kimura, 1999; Quaiser-Pohl and Jordan, 2004).
