Zusammenfassung

Psycholinguistik befasst sich mit den kognitiven Prozessen bei der Sprachverarbeitung. Dazu zählen Sprachverstehen und Sprachproduktion. Es sind die Schnittstellen des Sprachsystems, die das Innen mit dem Außen verbinden. Beim Sprachverstehen verläuft der Weg von außen nach innen: vom physikalische Sprachsignal zum perzeptuellen System (Hören, Sehen) und von da aus über das Sprachverstehenssystem zum Gedanken: »Was hat der andere gemeint?« Bei der Sprachproduktion verläuft der Weg umgekehrt, von innen nach außen: vom Gedanken des Sprechers über das Sprachproduktionssystem zu den Artikulatoren, die hörbare bzw. sichtbare Sprachsignale produzieren, die in einem physikalischen Medium — Schall- oder Lichtwellen — übertragen werden.
