Zusammenfassung

Jede Demokratie beruht auf der politischen Partizipation ihrer Bürgerinnen und Bürger, wobei politische Partizipation innerhalb der Literatur (Verba et al. 1993, 1995; Brady et al. 1995; Leighley 1995; van Deth 1997a, 1997c) durch die folgenden drei Merkmale definiert wird: Erstens ist die Teilnahme an diesen Aktivitäten freiwillig, zweitens werden diese Aktivitäten von Privatpersonen ausgeführt und drittens haben diese Aktivitäten alle das Ziel, in irgendeiner Weise Einfluß auf Entscheidungen des politischen Systems auszuüben.
