Abstract
This paper discusses the usability of user experience in the field of waste treatment in smart city, where the waste sorting is an important part of the research on smart cities in China currently. At present, there are various waste sorting related smart applications in the Alipay, and WeChat applet. These applications are very complicated and less usability of user experience design for users, which they cannot perfectly solve the user problems and the user experience needs to be improved. As such, this paper is aiming to solve the problem with user research centered smart application design for users to sorting and deal with the waste accurately with improved user experience and usability living in smart city. This research firstly looks for the relevant research and technology of waste treatment and the process design of user experience through literature, and then carries out the user test and comparative analysis through the existing platform to find out the special points, common points and important points. User research helps to get the user needs and collect the data for the main function optimization design for waste sorting in smart city, and pass the user test about its availability. A smart application has been proposed to make the waste sorting more simple and accurate, and improve the user experience, usability, and satisfaction.
