Abstract
Emergent airway management (AM) is one of the most high-risk procedures in medicine. It is important that clinicians understand all of the intricacies of AM before undertaking this task at the bedside. Each AM situation requires the clinician to be able to properly assess the patient and the clinical scenario. The provider must know the different pieces of equipment that are available and how these pieces are used. AM encompasses the knowledge of airway manipulation, patient assessment, and the development of an airway plan to maintain patient oxygenation and minimize patient risk.
