Zusammenfassung

Unter dem Ulcus cruris (UC), einer häufigen chronischen Erkrankung in der westlichen Gesellschaft, wird ein Substanzdefekt der Haut und Unterhaut des Unterschenkels, der bis zum Knochen reichen kann, verstanden. Die Prävalenz wird auf 0,5–1,0 % der deutschen Bevölkerung geschätzt und ist mit dem Alter assoziiert. Das UC stellt in der älter werdenden Bevölkerung einen wesentlichen Grund für erhöhte Morbidität und Gesundheitskosten dar. Die häufigsten Ursachen sind chronisch-venöse Insuffizienz, arterielle Verschlusskrankheit und Diabetes mellitus. Zur erfolgreichen Behandlung sind die korrekte Diagnose und die enge interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit unerlässlich. Die Betroffenen benötigen oft Anleitung zur Selbsthilfe und Unterstützung bei fachgerechter Pflege und Prophylaxe. Therapieziel, v. a. im geriatrischen Bereich, ist in erster Linie die Lebensqualität des Betroffenen bei Erhalt von Mobilität und Autonomie.
