Subkutane Flüssigkeitsgabe für geriatrische Patienten

Eine „alte“ Technik wird wiederentdeckt

Zusammenfassung

Die subkutane Gabe von Flüssigkeiten ist eine effektive und sichere Methode zur Prophylaxe und Therapie einer Dehydratation. Schwerwiegende Komplikationen treten deutlich seltener als bei intravenöser Flüssigkeitsapplikation auf. Einsatz findet die subkutane Flüssigkeitsgabe bei stationären Patienten im Krankenhaus und in Pflegeheimen sowie bei zu Hause lebenden Patienten, die von ambulanten Pflegedienste versorgt werden. Ein wesentlicher Vorteil ist, dass die Neuanlage eines subkutanen Zugangs auch durch examiniertes Pflegepersonal erfolgen kann. Besonders geeignet ist die subkutane Flüssigkeitsgabe für unruhige Patienten, die sich häufig die venösen Zugänge selbst ziehen. Die subkutane Infusion kann bei alten Patienten Krankenhauseinweisungen verhindern.
