Zusammenfassung

Notfälle bei Patienten mit Diabetes sind häufig und bedürfen einer raschen Diagnostik und Therapie, insbesondere bei Hypoglykämien. Lebensbedrohliche Stoffwechselentgleisungen können sich unterschiedlich schnell entwickeln. Das Erkennen eines diabetischen Notfalls kann sowohl für den Patienten als auch für die Angehörigen und betreuenden Pflegekräfte schwierig sein. Eine nicht eindeutige Zuordnung (z.B. einer Ketoazidose) kann für den Patienten lebensgefährlich sein. Kontinuierliche Langzeitbetreuung und regelmäßige Schulung von Diabetespatienten sind essenziell. Auch jeder Verdacht auf ein diabetisches Fußsyndrom sollte umgehend in einer spezialisierten Diabetes-Klinik oder Ambulanz vorgestellt werden.
