5. Schmerz und Energie

Zusammenfassung

Es wird dargestellt, wie Schmerzen entstehen, wie sie fortgeleitet werden und schließlich wo sie im Gehirn ankommen. Neben Säure, Hitze und Kälte verursachen Entzündungssituationen Schmerzen. Die Immunbotenstoffe können direkt die Schmerzempfänger aktivieren. Das Gesicht, die Zunge, der Rachen, die Hände und Füße sind am dichtesten mit Schmerznervenfasern versorgt. Dort kann eine Entzündungssituation ganz besonders gut erkannt werden („sechster Sinn“). Man unterscheidet akute und chronische Schmerzen; die Letzteren sind mit einer Art von Stabilisierung des Schmerzgeschehens vergesellschaftet. Schmerzen verursachen deutlich erhöhte Energieausgaben.
