Kernaussagen

Patienten mit schwerwiegenden internistischen Erkrankungen und nach größeren chirurgischen Eingriffen sollten unbedingt eine medikamentöse Thromboseprophylaxe erhalten. Gerade nach großen chirurgischen Eingriffen sollte diese auch nach der Entlassung fortgeführt werden.

An oralen Substanzen stehen der Vitamin-K-Antagonist Marcumar sowie seit Kurzem der Thrombinhemmer Dabigatran zur Verfügung.

Im Laufe des Jahres 2008 ist mit der Zulassung von Rivaroxaban für Patienten nach Knie- oder Hüftgelenkersatz zu rechnen. Dies dürfte eine wesentliche Vereinfachung der Thromboseprophylaxe für Patient und Arzt mit sich bringen.
