Die Spannung und Aufregung, mit der Ende 2005 die neuen Guidelines für die Reanimation erwartet wurden, waren vergleichbar mit den Emotionen, die mit der Neuerscheinung des aktuellen „Harry Potter” verbunden waren. Die Server des European Resuscitation Council (ERC) waren in den ersten Stunden nach Freigabe der Guidelines völlig überlastet und stürzten dementsprechend mehrfach ab. Dieses Phänomen findet man bei keinen anderen Guidelines. Das zeigt sehr deutlich, in welchem Dilemma die Notfallmedizin steckt.
