Dr. Matthew G. Mutch is an Assistant Professor of Surgery, Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery, Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Matt was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and received an M.D. degree from the Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis. His general surgery training was conducted at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine and included 2 years of research. Matt completed a colon and rectal residency at the Lahey Clinic, Burlington, Massachusetts. After completing his colorectal training in 2002, Matt joined the Colon and Rectal Surgery Staff at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He is board certified in General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery.

Dr. Mutch maintains a busy clinical practice in the large referral centers of Barnes-Jewish Hospital and the St. Louis Veterans hospital. Thus, he is exposed to a wide variety of uncommon colorectal neoplasms. In addition to his research activities, Matt is an active participant in the Washington University's colon and rectal residency program and a member of numerous professional organizations. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and is an abstract editor for Diseases of the Colon and Rectum.

Matt lives in Fenton, Missouri with his wife, Jennifer; daughter, Megan; and son, Adam. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, exercising, and reading.
