Abstract

The etiology of chronic wounds is versatile. For this reason, detailed diagnostics have to be performed to be able to act purposively. Additionally, in cases of recalcitrant ulcers the diagnosis once made has to be reappraised regularly. Besides the selection of appropriate therapeutic steps, general factors like compliance, cost efficacy and duration of treatment play a decisive role in treatment of patients with chronic wounds.

In this review we give ten recommendations for the treatment of chronic wounds which may help in your daily routine or can be used as a diagnostic algorithm.
