Polarität des frei formulierten MMST-Satzes und Befinden von Menschen mit Demenz

Ergebnisse einer Querschnittstudie

Zusammenfassung

Hintergrund

Im Rahmen des Mini-Mental-Status-Tests (MMST) ist ein beliebiger Satz zu schreiben. Möglicherweise gibt die emotionale Färbung des Satzes Hinweise auf das Befinden des Schreibenden. Daher wurde untersucht, ob es einen Zusammenhang gibt, zwischen der Färbung des Satzes, den Menschen mit Demenz im Rahmen des MMST schreiben, und depressiven Symptomen sowie Lebensqualität.

Material und Methode

Durchgeführt wurde eine Sekundäranalyse der Querschnittdaten von 107 Menschen mit Demenz, die im Rahmen des „7th Framework EU-Project RightTimePlaceCare“ erhoben wurden. Zwei Rater beurteilten in einem standardisierten Verfahren die Satzfärbung (positiv, neutral, negativ). Untersucht wurde, inwieweit ein Zusammenhang besteht, zwischen Satzfärbung und Lebensqualität (erfasst durch das Instrument Quality of Life in Alzheimer’s Disease) bzw. depressiven Symptomen (erfasst durch die Cornell Scale for Depression in Dementia).

Ergebnisse

Je 42 % der Sätze wurden als positiv bzw. neutral und 16 % als negativ bewertet. Die Varianzanalyse zeigte einen signifikanten Unterschied hinsichtlich der Lebensqualität zwischen den 3 Gruppen der Satzpolarität (p = 0,04). Der Scheffé-Test bestätigte einen signifikanten Unterschied zwischen den Gruppen mit positiver und negativer Satzfärbung: Menschen, die einen Satz mit negativer Färbung schrieben, wiesen auch eine geringere gesundheitsbezogene Lebensqualität auf (p = 0,043). Die Satzpolarität und die Ausprägung depressiver Symptome waren nicht statistisch signifikant assoziiert (p = 0,97).

Schlussfolgerung

Es bleibt zu prüfen, ob die Satzpolarität tatsächlich ein geeigneter Indikator für gesundheitsbezogene Lebensqualität und depressive Symptome bei Menschen mit Demenz ist. Der geschriebene MMST-Satz könnte ggf. im diagnostischen Prozess genutzt werden.
