Summary

From the epidemiological point of view the knowledge concerning a potential influence of physical activity on the risk of prostate cancer is still inconsistent in literature. From scientific studies with healthy volunteers as well as with tumor patients training induced changes of immune functions are well documented. In addition, hormonal reactions could be detected following longer exercise programs which may be important for a reduction of the growth of hormone dependent cancers. Therefore, it can be conducted that within therapy and rehabilitation prostate cancer patients may benefit from an exercise program adapted to their special needs.
