Abstract

Multimodal pain therapy is characterised by the integration of drug therapy and non-medicinal multidisciplinary therapy. It has been listed as a procedure in the OPS cataloge. We have retrospectively evaluated data from patients who were treated with multimodal pain therapy in the years 2006 until 2008. The vast majority had pain in the spine (lumbar > cervical). Headache, neuropathic pain and chronic pain were other reasons for this treatment. All these pain syndromes showed a significant reduction in pain intensitiy. Seven percent of all patients had to be treated again due to recurrent pain. Our data show that multimodal pain therapy can be effective for inpatients of a primary care hospital.
