Transgenic rabbit models to investigate the cardiac ion channel disease long QT syndrome
2016, Progress in Biophysics and Molecular BiologyCitation Excerpt :The occurrence of AV conduction block is infrequent but associated with elevated arrhythmogenic risk (Gorgels et al., 1998; Pruvot et al., 1999; Rosenbaum and Acunzo, 1991; Sakaguchi et al., 2008). Similarly, in acquired LQTS, AV block may trigger polymorphic VTs (Chevalier et al., 2007; Raviρa et al., 2007). As in human LQTS patients, slow heart rates, short-long-short sequences, bigeminy, and R-on-T phenomena were recorded prior to sustained and non-sustained VT in LQT2 rabbits (Brunner et al., 2008).

2014, Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological PsychiatryCitation Excerpt :Risperidone has been shown in vitro to cause delayed ventricular repolarization in human myocardial cells (Gluais et al., 2004). Some studies in adults have shown small, but significant degrees of QTc prolongation with risperidone (Raviña et al., 2007; Suzuki et al., 2012) whereas others with a larger cohort documented no prolongation at regular doses (Chiu et al., 2005). Two earlier studies did not find risperidone-induced QT changes in pediatric patients (de Castro et al., 2008; Nahshoni et al., 2007).
Prevention of Torsade de Pointes in Hospital Settings. A Scientific Statement From the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology Foundation Endorsed by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and the International Society for Computerized Electrocardiology
2010, Journal of the American College of CardiologyCitation Excerpt :Bradycardia is an additional important risk factor for TdP in patients when other predisposing findings are present (65,87). Prolonged ventricular cycle length can take the form of simple sinus bradycardia, complete atrioventricular block, or any rhythm in which sudden long cycles may lead to arrhythmogenic early afterdepolarizations (98,99). Premature beats that lead to short-long-short cycles may foster the development of TdP (65,72).
Antipsychotic drugs
2010, Side Effects of Drugs AnnualCitation Excerpt :Both drugs were commonly associated with adverse events and high attrition rates. Acquired long QT syndrome associated with risperidone has again been reported (182A). An 83-year-old woman with senile dementia and psychosis, who had taken risperidone 1.5 mg/day for the past 2 years and was also taking diltiazem 120 mg/day and torasemide 5 mg/day, developed a slow pulse.
