2023, Diabetes Epidemiology and ManagementHow Does Diabetes Accelerate Normal Aging? An Examination of ADL, IADL, and Mobility Disability in Middle-aged and Older Adults With and Without Diabetes
2021, Diabetes Research and Clinical PracticeCitation Excerpt :Among our participants, all disabilities progressed with aging, whether they were with or without diabetes, and the onset-ages of disabilities occurred in the order of the severity of the disability. Our results, similar to those of Bourdel-Marchasson et al.[17], showed that mobility disabilities occur first, then IADL disabilities, followed by ADL disabilities. Mobility disabilities tended to occur in middle age.
BMI, weight change, and incidence of disability among Korean adults: A nationwide retrospective cohort study
2021, Disability and Health JournalCitation Excerpt :Approximately 15% of the world’s population is estimated to live with some form of disability.2 Disability is associated with several poor outcomes, including loss of employment and productivity,3 difficulty in performing daily self-care activities,4 increased use of healthcare services,5 reduced quality of life,6 and premature death.7 Due to population aging and the global increase in the prevalence of chronic health conditions, the number of individuals with disabilities is increasing8; hence, prevention of disability is prioritized for global public health.
