Abstract
Delirium is a common and often serious complication for elderly hospitalized patients. Standardized instruments, which enable non-psychiatrically trained clinicians to identify delirium quickly and accurately in both clinical and research settings, are needed. The Confusion Assessment Method (CAM) has become the most frequently used instrument for the detection of delirium world-wide. The present article presents German versions of the long CAM and of the shortened form.
