Die lebensrettenden Basismaßnahmen (Basic Life Support, BLS) beziehen sich auf die Aufrechterhaltung freier Atemwege sowie die Unterstützung von Atmung und Kreislauf ohne Gebrauch von Ausrüstung, abgesehen von schützenden Hilfsmitteln.1 Dieser Abschnitt enthält die Leitlinien für Erwachsenen-BLS durch Laienhelfer und für den Gebrauch eines automatisieren externen Defibrillators (AED). Er umfasst ebenfalls die Erkennung des plötzlichen Herztods, die stabile Seitenlage und das Verhalten bei Ersticken (Verlegung des Atemwegs durch Fremdkörper). Leitlinien zu BLS im Krankenhaus und zur Verwendung manueller Defibrillatoren finden sich in Abschnitt 3 und 4. …
