Psychoonkologie – psychosoziale Onkologie

Zusammenfassung

Die Psychoonkologie umfasst psychosoziale Aspekte der Prävention, Ätiologie, Diagnostik, Therapie und Rehabilitation von Krebserkrankungen und ist daher durch medizinische Interdisziplinarität sowie eine stetige Kooperation mit anderen Berufsgruppen charakterisiert. Das primäre Ziel in der psychoonkologischen Arbeit ist es, die subjektive Lebensqualität von Krebspatienten zu erhalten und, wenn möglich, zu verbessern. Psychische Belastungszeichen in Form von psychosozialen Distress-Symptomen und/oder psychischen Störungsbildnern treten bei onkologischen Patienten in einer Häufigkeit von 30–60% auf. Die Integration der psychoonkologischen Betreuung und Therapie in ein onkologisches Gesamtbehandlungskonzept hat sich als medizinisch und psychologisch bedeutsam herausgestellt. Die psychoonkologische Grundversorgung ist Aufgabe des onkologischen Primärbehandlers, wohingegen die spezifische psychoonkologische Versorgung von psychiatrischen/psychotherapeutischen Fachkräften übernommen wird. Psychoonkologische Interventionen beinhalten psychologisch/psychotherapeutische sowie psychopharmakologische Maßnahmen.

Psycho-oncology is defined by psychosocial aspects of prevention, etiology, diagnostics, treatment, and rehabilitation of cancer. It is characterized by interdisciplinary medicine, as well as cooperation between medical and nonmedical professionals. Psychosocial distress and/or psychiatric disorders are manifested in 30–60% of cancer patients. The primary target of psycho-oncological management is to retain and ideally optimize the subjective quality of life of cancer patients. It is important to understand that psycho-oncological care is part of an integrative oncological patient management. Basic psycho-oncological management is usually provided by the primary oncologist, whereas more specific psycho-oncological measures call for specially trained psychiatric/psychotherapeutic staff. Psycho-oncological interventions include psychological/psychotherapeutic, as well as psychopharmacologic interventions.
