Zusammenfassung

Im Pschyrembel wird unter iatrogen „durch den Arzt verursacht“ verstanden, „z.B. infolge diagnostischer oder therapeutischer Einwirkungen“. Eine andere Definition für iatrogene Krankheit („iatrogenic illness“) versteht hierunter allgemein jeden krankhaften Zustand, der aus einer diagnostischen oder irgendeiner therapeutischen Maßnahme folgt. Dies schließt schädigende Ereignisse ein, die nicht als „natürliche Folge“ der Erkrankungen des Patienten anzusehen sind, z.B. Stürze und Dekubitalulzera. Synonym wird auch der Begriff „iatrogene Komplikation“ verwendet. Eine neuere Definition beruht auf der Zugrundelegung von 3 Kriterien:

    der Kausalität

  2. 2.

    der messbaren Behinderung und

  3. 3.

    der fehlenden Absicht.
