Nonfluent Speech Disturbances—Psychobiological Interactions

  • Conference paper

Abstract

In their chronic form, disorders of speech flow, in particular stuttering [category 307.00 of the international DSM III classification of psychological and psychiatric disturbances (1984)], constitute a disorder of communication which seriously impairs the social and functional integration of the affected person and is frequently associated with a series of long-lasting psychological problems for the person concerned but also for his/her environment.
