Zusammenfassung
Femurschaftfrakturen ereignen sich häufig bei jungen Männern als Folge von Hochrasanztraumata wie beispielsweise Unfällen im Straßenverkehr, Stürzen aus großer Höhe oder Schussverletzungen. Oft sind sie auch Bestandteil des Verletzungsmusters polytraumatisierter Patienten mit potentiell lebensbedrohlichem Charakter und erhöhter Mortalität wie Morbidität. Drei Viertel der jungen männlichen Patienten mit einer Femurschaftfraktur erleiden diese durch ein Hochrasanztrauma, vorwiegend zur sommerlichen Jahreszeit (Taylor et al. 1994). Typisch ist die Frakturlokalisation im mittleren Diaphysendrittel mit einem Quer- oder Schrägbruch.
