Disordered heart rhythm is represented by 8-codes. Abnormal foci for generating P-waves or QRS-T complexes can occur from diseased segments of the atria or ventricles. The function of the sinus node and the conduction through the heart can also be affected by disease processes in the heart muscle, disordered metabolism, or drug effects. In general, the arrhythmias are signaled by the presence of unusual beats, irregular R-R intervals, or very fast or very slow heart rates.
