Besonderheiten der perioperativen Intensivmedizin beim geriatrischen Patienten

Zusammenfassung

Hintergrund

Der demographische Wandel bewirkt auch Veränderungen in der perioperativen Intensivmedizin, denn der Anteil geriatrischer Patienten, die sich chirurgischen Engriffen unterziehen müssen, nimmt zu. Mit den gängigen präoperativen Untersuchungsinstrumenten ist es bisher nicht möglich, risikogefährdete Patienten dieses Risikokollektivs verlässlich zu identifizieren und eine zuverlässige Prognose für den postoperativen Verlauf abzugeben.

Material und Methoden

Wichtige Aspekte der Minimierung von Komplikationen im postoperativen intensivmedizinischen Behandlungsbereich sind neben der Schmerzkontrolle, einer ausreichenden Oxygenierung und einem adäquaten Flüssigkeitsmanagement eine ausreichende Versorgung mit Energie und Nährstoffen, die gute Einstellung des Blutzuckerspiegels sowie die frühe Mobilisation der Patienten.

Ergebnisse

Die perioperativ-intensivmedizinische Behandlung geriatrischer Patienten setzt die Bereitschaft zur interdisziplinären Zusammenarbeit voraus, denn nur mit diesem engen Dialog lässt sich das Behandlungsergebnis nachhaltig sichern.
