18. Atemnot

Zusammenfassung

Patienten beschreiben Atemnot als »bekomme nicht genug Luft«, »bin kurzatmig«, »ersticke« »brauche mehr Luft«. Leider bleibt die Wahrnehmung dieser Symptome durch Angehörige und Pflegende oft auf die terminale Krankheitsphase beschränkt, obwohl sich schon früher sinnvolle Maßnahmen treffen lassen. Trotz der Fortschritte in der Krebsbehandlung und Studien zu ihrer symptomatischen Behandlung bleibt Atemnot ein schwieriges und schwer zu linderndes Symptom, unter dem Patienten, Angehörige aber auch Pflegende zu leiden haben. Bei Atemnot nehmen pflegerische und nicht-pharmakologische Interventionen eine wichtige Stellung ein. Die Aufgabe der Pflegenden besteht in dem Erkennungen und Erfassungen der Atemnot, dem Umsetzen der nötigen erforderlichen Therapien sowie der Beruhigung der Patienten und ihrer Angehörigen.
