Zusammenfassung

Dieses Kapitel befasst sich zunächst mit den entscheidenden Veränderungen im Bereich der sozialen Entwicklung in Bezug auf Gleichaltrigenbeziehungen, Freundschaften und Gruppen im Jugendalter. Die Forschung zeigt, dass diese Entwicklung immer im Zusammenhang mit der Eltern-Kind-Beziehung betrachtet werden muss. Das Kapitel beleuchtet den Wandel der Funktionen der Beziehungen zu Gleichaltrigen und betrachtet die Bedeutung des Beliebtheitsstatus unter Gleichaltrigen im Jugendalter. Das Kapitel stellt auch den Einfluss von Beziehungen zu Gleichaltrigen auf das positive und problematische Verhalten von Jugendlichen dar und befasst sich aus diesem Grund auch mit präventiven Maßnahmen. Neben der Gestaltung von Beziehungen zu gleichgeschlechtlichen Gleichaltrigen zählt die Aufnahme von Partnerschaften und sexuellen Beziehungen zu den wichtigsten Entwicklungsaufgaben des Jugendalters. Verschiedene Modelle beschreiben eine altersgradiert zunehmende Intensivierung romantischer und sexueller Erfahrungen im Verlauf der Adoleszenz. Diese werden in diesem Kapitel getrennt für die beiden Bereiche „romantische Beziehungen“ und „sexuelle Beziehungen“ aufgegriffen und zusammen mit empirischen Befunden zu Verbreitung, typischen Altersstufen und den Korrelaten romantischer und sexueller Erfahrungen präsentiert.
